We are excited to offer hair restoration with Platelet Rich Plasma for patients that struggle with thinning hair and overall hair loss. Multiple factors play a role in hair loss, but genetics and ethnicity can be the biggest factor. Up to 50% of Caucasians lose hair by the age of 50, and nearly 50% of women will struggle with hair loss over the course of their lifetime. If you find yourself struggling to keep your hair, notice it’s thinning, or simply want to take preventative measures, PRP may be right for you.
Platelet Rich Plasma is a procedure used to help regrow thinning hair but also helps thicken and grow existing hair. PRP (platelet rich plasma) is taken from the patient via a simple blood draw, using high end technology the blood is then spun to separate the Platelet Rich Plasma from the red blood cells. This Platelet Rich Plasma activates numerous growth factors in the hair and scalp, which act on stem cells and stimulate the growth and development of new hair follicles. The process of injecting PRP into the scalp is a simple, non-surgical process that is minimally invasive with a quick recovery period. It offers very safe and natural results for those looking to address the symptoms of hair loss.
How it’s done: With a small needle your own Platelet Rich Plasma is injected in the scalp in areas where hair may be thinning. Lidocaine, numbing cream, and/or a chilling device can be used to help with discomfort or pain.
Patients typically need between 3-4 treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart. Results vary and it takes a minimum of 60 days for you to notice new hair growth. Maintenance is usually required to maintain results.
